Baby Benz is Here!!!!!

Allie Heather Benz was born today, yes on Halloween!

The Story

We woke up this morning at 2:00AM Beth was having some painful contractions. I started getting things ready to go to the hospital hoping this was it! We left for the hospital at 3:00AM when we got there not a lot had changed from Mondays appointment except for the progression Beth labored until 10:00AM then we had a bit of a scare with her heart beat dropping. Things moved fast from there the staff and Dr were great but things were a little scary and stressful. The Dr needed to use forceps but he did an amazing job.

New Member of the Hobson Family

Our good friends Greg and Lindsay added a new member to their family on Sunday night. Meredith "Mera" Haven Hobson was 8 pounds 7 oz. I met Lindsay at church when we were both 21 weeks pregnant and found out we were both having girls. I immediately made her my friend and since then the four of us have had many dinners and took all our classes together. It's been so fun getting to know them. Congratulations you guys! and I am not in the least bit jealous even though your due date was 3 days after mine! :) Can't wait for many play dates!

Our Little Love Bug

Okay still no baby but I am dilated 4 and half! My doctor was even surprised that I haven't gone into labor yet. I wanted to share something special with you guys. Yesterday I was reading outside a Starbucks when a bug landed on me and I went to swat it away when I looked down and it was a ladybug. :) If you don't know the story click here.. Lady Bug Story Then in the afternoon I was in the nursery and a ladybug landed on the window. Maybe it means she will be joining our family VERY soon!

No Baby Yet!

If you have been wondering if we have had the baby yet the answer is a big fat NO! Although I am very comfortable still we are very anxious. :) We will keep you all updated via text or we will probably post something pretty quickly on the blog so keep checking! It will be sometime in the next week because my doctor will not let me go past 41 weeks. Wish us luck!

Happy Birthday!!!!

Happy Birthday to the best husband in the world!! Matt was hoping Allie would arrive on his birthday but we'll just have to see! I hope you have had fun celebrating little by little over the last few weeks, wish I could do more but I am just too big! You are wonderful and I couldn't have asked for a better best friend to be on this journey with - and I can't wait to meet our daughter! Happy birthday my love.

Assignment!

Meat, Meat and More Meat!

Matt's birthday isn't until the 21st but I wanted to make sure he gets celebrated before the baby comes so last Saturday we went to the Brazil Grill with Matt's mom and sister. The food was great. It is an all you can eat Meatapalooza! When you turn over a coaster on the table they come around with a ton of different meat. They had bacon wrapped chicken, bacon wrapped fillet, a ton of different steak, shrimp and a cinnamon coated pineapple. Sooo good!

Last Day

Today is my last day with my sisters kids and my dad. I came into my sisters house this morning to find a sign made by the kids and flowers. :) I also got a very nice thank you card from my mom. Thank you to my Mom, Dad, Heather and Andy. I feel like I have been given a very special gift. Although I am ready to relax and prepare for Allie's arrival I will miss seeing everyone everyday. You all have made this a very enjoyable experience the last 6 months. Love you all!!

So You Think You Can Dance!

I was so excited we were one of the first stops this year on the tour because that meant I can actually go. It was so much fun as it always is and I think we had even better seats then last year. Although the seats were a bit too close to the speakers and at some points I had to cover my ears and I was a little worried for Allie because she kept jumping at all the loud bass. It was so much fun to see our favorite dances. Thanks mom for another awesome birthday present!

The Name Game

I am so excited because my nephew (1 year on Wednesday) finally is saying my name! Whenever he wakes up from his nap he yells Be! Be! which is Beth or Bef. I have been working on getting him to say it and he finally did! He also is starting to do a couple of sign language words that I have been working on too!

So I feel at this point I should explain why I used Beth instead of Elizabeth on the blog and my really weird quirkiness when it comes to my name. This is the one thing I am really weird about and most of you have heard this story. When I introduce myself with a group that includes Matt I have to explain that he will call my Beth but I prefer Elizabeth. This is because I grew up being called Beth and so my family and close friends call me that but when anyone else calls my Beth I feel like I am 5 years old. I can't stand being called Beth but I don't care when it comes to family. Weird huh. So whenever I tell people this story like coworkers and others I will get some smart guy calling me Beth just to bother me. Do not be one of these people! :)

The Reappearing Bellybutton

I have an inny bellybutton. It is pretty deep and so I have never seen the inside of it. Over the last few weeks it has gotten flatter and flatter and more pushed out to were I am now able to see the inside. This morning Allie was doing her usual "bubble dance" I like to call it and shifting and pushing when I looked down and all of the sudden I had a slight inny again. She must have moved into a new position that took pressure off the middle so now it dips in a little more. Funny. :) Oh and we only have 49 more days!!

A New Craving

Peaches!!! We went to the greatness that is the Lake Oswego Farmers Market again in search of my favorite thing right now. I have been told by my doctor to cut down on the sugar but she said fruit was alright and since I love fruit I have been buying peaches like crazy! We got 6 HUGE peaches, 4 really juicy nectarines, and some yummy looking corn for dinner this week. It was a very good trip. :)

Shower!!

My sister threw me a wonderful shower and I cannot thank her enough for all she did. Thank you so much sweetie! It was so fun and I feel much more prepared after it all. :) You definitely went above and beyond. Love you! and I love the card you gave me too. You are very special to me and I am so glad that Allie will have such a special Auntie!

The day started with Matt's mom treating me to one of the most wonderful pedicures I have ever had.

This is the cake and cupcakes one of my sisters neighbors made for the shower. She did a wonderful job and Matt commented that the cupcakes were the best he has ever had! Also the music box is a gift from Matt's mom. I know Allie will cherish it for years to come.

My sister and I love this game. You melt a candy bar inside a diaper and then you have to guess what kind of candy bar it is. This game grosses alot of people out but we think it's so funny. Don't worry this diaper is full of a Hershey's Almond bar. hehe

Brynne: I just want to be 10 and have a phone and then see Jesus

Me: Oh

Brynne: Well I just want to be a mermaid, and find treasures and talk underwater and see underwater....... I talk about it with Jesus tomorrow.

Nesting

I am fully in nesting mode. Friday night I was pacing in the nursery naming all the things that still need to be done. Matt the sweet guy he is understood and Saturday we spent the day buying things like a crib mattress, her outfit to come home in and also made a trip to Ikea to get some things we need to organize the house. I feel better but will feel great after my shower. :)

Name Revealed!

The soon to be newest member of the Benz Family has a name! Her name is.....

Allie Heather Benz!!

And yes it's Allie not Allison. We can't believe that we have less then 80 days until we bring our little girl into this world. As we prepare her room (including pink paint and the cutest bedding - look below) gathering clothes/bouncers/crib we are getting more and more excited. It is so fun to picture what she is going to look like. She already has her own little personality. She kicks as soon as she hears my voice in the morning, even before I move and she does the craziest things these days. Our next step is 3 different classes to help prepare us.

Slumber Party!

This weekend we watched my nephew while his Mom, Dad and older Sibs were at Disneyland. We had a blast playing and we got to know what needed to be baby proofed in our house. It made us really excited about bringing our little girl home soon. :) It was weird not to have him there last night, we were walking around quiet for no reason. It was a fun weekend but glad to get a full nights sleep for a bit longer.
