Merry Christmas!

We had a wonderful Christmas and it was so special spending it with Allie.  After our little family Christmas we went to my parents house for breakfast and more presents!  With my family we still get presents for everyone so with 3 kids in the family plus spouses/girlfriend and both parents and now 4 kids in the family (the kids usually get more then one) it comes out to be alot of gifts.  You'll know what I am talking about when you get to that picture!

Our favorite present!  She was passed out halfway through presents.

Here she is opening her stocking

Her first stocking presents. I think she liked it!

Her first present.  It was bigger then she is!

After a scavenger hunt around the house Matt finally made it to his favorite present.
and Red Sox golf balls!

Here she is in her Christmas dress.  The headband was a bit too big so she wore a smaller white one.  I said it looks like an old lady hat.

This is all the gifts I was talking about.  Oh and my brother got me a new crock pot!  I guess it pays to do your shopping last minute sometimes.  :)

Later that night we had my extended family over for dinner and it was about 25 people jammed into the house.  It was so loud that by the end of the night all three of us were exhausted and ready to sleep.

Happy Birthday Heather!

My sister's birthday was on Christmas and to make sure she was properly celebrated we got together on Christmas Eve.  We ate birthday burritos, cookies, and cheesecake.  Happy birthday Heather!  I love you lots.  :)

Some of Heather's gifts weren't delivered due to the weather so my mom cleverly wrapped some old slippers in place of her new slippers.

Stew Fiasco

On Saturday when the snow started to really come down we made it to the store so we wouldn't get trapped with nothing to eat.  I decided I wanted to make crock pot stew.  Perfect for this kind of weather and it's soooo good.  So yesterday I put Allie in her bouncy chair and put her just outside the kitchen were she could see me and I put on Christmas music.  I started to chop the veggies when she started to fuss.  So I put her bouncy chair right beside my leg and bounced it as I chopped.  I call this making stew "The Mom Way".  :)  She fell asleep pretty quickly and I finished up.  About 30 minutes later Matt says he hears a popping noise coming from the crock pot.  I look up and it is pouring black smoke from the side.  I quickly unplugged it.  It left a pretty good black mark on the counter but we got it out.  So now I am stuck with a broken crock pot and $10 worth of uncooked meat!  Thankfully we live close to the Roth family so Matt walked 5 blocks in the ice and snow to borrow theirs.  Thanks to the Roth's for saving my stew!  and thanks to Matt for walking all that way for me.  :)

Blizzard in Sellwood!

We have been happily hanging out all weekend but by Christmas we may get stir crazy.  Matt has taken a few walks to the store and to play shuffle board with Mike Roth.  :)  I love the feeling of not being able to leave because you get very inventive with your time.  I have been baking a ton in hopes of bringing them to Christmas.

Here's Allie hanging out with Mom and Dad

This is a huge icicle outside our window. It has grown and grown over the last few days and now is growing past the window!

First Model Shoot!

Allie had her first modeling job today.  Our friend Christy came over and took newborn pictures of Allie.  She did great.  She peed a couple of times and even managed to drench herself the first time but she held up okay through it all.  Thanks Christy!  These are not the photos but here are some of her practice poses.

The Closest Winner

About 3 weeks ago I gave you an assignment.  Whoever came closest to guessing Allie's b-day would get recognized on the blog.  So here are the 3 people who came closest!  Here are Allie's stats again.

Born on October 31st at 10:58am and weighed 7 pounds 2 ounces

Ford Jordan!!  You guess she would be born on October 30th and you were the closest.  Here are a few words about Ford...He recently moved to North Carolina with his wife and beautiful daughter and we miss them all very much.  We have only really personally known Ford for about a year but we came to call Ford one of our really good friends.  He was one of our Pastoral Interns and I loved it when Ford preached.  I miss your sermons.  :)  He made us aware that Portland has very little fashion sense when it comes to bow ties and we now are used to hearing ya'll used in everyday conversation.  Thanks Ford!  So I hope this at least makes up a bit for Matt's promise to say something nice about you instead did this.

Matt got her weight right at 7 pounds 2 ounces.  You guys already know I think he is awesome so I will just leave it at that.  Although I didn't know I could love Matt on another level until I saw him kissing our daughter.

and Lindsay (Ford's wonderful wife) this wasn't your official guess but you did mention that you hoped I would have a 7 pounds 2 ounce baby so I will give you honorable mention because that was very sweet of you to wish that!  and I will just say that Lindsay is the most awesome person and again we totally miss you guys!

Shelia! guessed she would be born at 11:30am and you were very close!  So here is your recognition..Sheila has known Matt's family for forever and has kept in touch over the years.  She has been so generous in showering Allie with gifts that we feel her love all the way from Washington DC.  Your a wonderful baker and we love receiving sweets from across the US.  and we think it is so cool that you are able to get us White House ornaments.  We can't wait for another visit so you can see Allie in person!  Thanks Shelia!!

Matt's mom generously threw a Pre-Thanksgiving Thanksgiving on Sunday with a bunch of family and friends.  Allie stayed awake the whole time and crashed when we got home.  It was a great night.  Thanks Donna for putting it all on!  I ate 2 bites of my plate and then Allie got hungry.  Oh life as a mom.  Loving every minute.  :)
